2019 Angludet – Floral and fruity, the wine focuses you quickly on its bright, vibrant red fruits. The wine is medium-bodied, with a core of red currants, red plums and strawberries. The fruit is clean and pure, but on the lighter, crisp side of the style range. Elegant and soft on the palate, the wine is refined in the finish. Drink from 2024-2035. 89 Pts
2019 Brane Cantenac – Brane Cantenac is on fire lately! Vintage after vintage, they have really been on top of their game and 2019 continues their hot streak! I do not know what is better, the silky, supple, sensuous, and sexy textures on the palate, or the complex set of aromas with all of its roses, lilacs, violets, cherries, plums, tobacco-leaf, earth, and herbs. The wine has texture, length, and purity along with the ability to age and evolve for up to 3 decades. This is a beautiful wine from Brane Cantenac. Drink from 2027-2060. 97 Pts
2019 Brane Cantenac Le Baron de Brane – Smoky, forest floor, cedar, herbs and savory red fruits come through in the nose. On the palate, the wine is elegant, soft, fresh, and fruit. This is already so easy to drink, with its silky-textured, plummy palate, you can enjoy it today and over the next decade or longer while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. 2019 Cantenac Brown – The best vintage from Cantenac Brown in a while opens with a showy display of flowers, espresso, thyme, black cherries, plums, tobacco, and earthy, aromatics. Richly textured, with soft, polished tannins and a wealth of deep, ripe, sweet, fresh, dark, red fruits, the wine feels as good as it tastes. 2019 Confidence de Margaux – Soft, simple, fresh, lighter-styled, red fruit filled early drinking charmer with a soft, silky, but light, red cherry finish. You should be able to enjoy this as soon as it is released. Drink from 2022-2027. 86 Pts
2019 Dauzac – I liked this a lot in the barrel and I am liking it a lot in the bottle! Roses, violets, licorice, cherries and espresso come through easily in the perfume. The wine is soft, silky, fresh, and refined on the palate with loads of sweet, perfectly ripe, black plums in the sensuous, refined, lengthy finish. Drink from 2024-2045. 94 Pts
2019 Desmirail – Floral, earth, cedar, and forest leaf notes work well with the sweet, red fruits in the nose. The wine is soft-textured, medium-bodied, elegant, and fresh, with a nice sweetness to the fruits that are on display in the silky, refined finish. 2019 Deyrem Valentin – Forest-floor, wet earth, tobacco leaf, red currants, and plums create the core of this wine. Medium-bodied, soft, polished, sweet, fresh, and vibrant, with a touch of espresso coinciding with all the round, vibrant plums in the finish. Drink from 2023-2035. 92 Pts
2019 Giscours – Freshness and purity is the hallmark of this wine. The intensity of the perfume, with all of its violets, lilacs, and roses, along with tobacco leaf, black and red fruits, wet earth, spice, and smoke are attention-grabbing. But I love the silky palate textures with all of its depth and richness, purity of fruity, vibrancy, and length. This is the best vintage produced in the long history of Chateau Giscours. 2019 dIssan – d’Issan has been on a roll lately with 2019 marking another step-up in quality. The wine is full-bodied, silky, fresh, vibrant, pure and lively. The nose is packed with wet earth, herbs, flowers, tobacco, espresso and ripe, sweet, red berries. There is serious lift and energy here with a finish that lingers, giving you more time to spend with all of its graceful, lifted, pure, sweet, fresh plums, blackberries, spice and currants. 2019 dIssan Blason d’Issan – Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, soft and supple with good energy. The wine opens with flowers, cherries and currants, and continues with that theme, finishing with silky tannins and freshness. 2019 Kirwan – It is the strong, initial floral notes that grab your attention before you find the ripe, red cherries, plums and currants. Medium-bodied, soft, polished, fresh and refined, leaving you with loads of sweet, juicy, elegant, red fruits in the finish. The endnote comes with a little touch of spicy cocoa and minty herbs that add a nice touch to the wine. 2019 La Tour de Bessan – Fresh, spicy, medium-bodied, bright, soft-textured, sweet, cherry and black raspberry-filled wine with slightly dusty tannins on the backend in the red berry filled finish. This will be easy to taste on release. Drink from 2022-2030. 90 Pts
2019 La Tour de Mons – Flowers, earth, sweet cherries and tobacco wrapper scents introduce the wine. On the palate, the wine is fresh, medium-bodied, forward and already delivering its savory-edged, earthy, fresh, chewy, dark red fruits with a cedar and pepper accent. 2019 Labegorce – Fresh flowers, wet earth, spice, tobacco wrapper, and sweet, red pit fruit aromatics are all over the place. Elegant, soft, and refined on the palate, the wine is just a pleasure to taste with all of its purity and silky textures that resonate. The finish with its dark chocolate, plums, boysenberry, and espresso is a treat as it lingers and fills out on your palate. Give it a few years in the bottle and it is really to be great. 2019 Lascombes – Dark in color, the wine is equally dark on the palate with its layers of black cherry, plum, licorice, and chocolate. With a nose that starts off with oak, smoke, black fruit, herbs, and coffee bean, the next step is the wine hitting your palate. Avoirdupois in nature, round, lush, opulent, chocolate-covered fruits, licorice and smoky oak in the finish stay with you. 2019 Malescot St. Exupery – Lush, rich and silky, the wine is deep, dark, and intense, with silky tannins, freshness, and layers of opulent, refined, elegant dark red fruits. The combination of velvety tannins, intensity, and a plush finish hits the spot. Lush, round, full, and packed with loads of sweet, ripe, dark red fruits, opulent, chocolate and espresso coated plummy finish says you can enjoy this with just a year or two of age. 2019 Marquis dAlesme – Elegant, soft, silky, and sensuous, the wine is rich, ripe and almost over-flowing with waves of polished, sweet, fresh, plums, dark cherries, licorice, 5 spice, espresso bean, and dark chocolate on the backend. Over the past few years, they have really picked up the volume here at Chateau Marquis d’Alesme. 2019 Marquis de Terme – Full-bodied, round, rich, ripe, lush, and polished, the nose starts off with its display of flowers, dark chocolate, and black currants. Soft, silky, and lusciously-textured, the wine leaves with an energetic, polished finish which is the perfect back-drop for all of its sweet, dark plums, currants, licorice, cocoa, espresso, and spice. 2019 Palmer – The first thing you notice is the showy display of lilacs and roses before moving on to the currants, plums, cigar wrapper, black cherries, and earthy nuances. As captivating as the perfume is, it is the sensuous, rich, silky, elegant, fresh, vibrant palate presence with its layers of perfectly ripe, black, and red fruits. There is length, lift, and longevity here with a vibrancy that resonates. The finish builds and expands as the fruits linger. Like all great vintages of Palmer, give this time to develop allowing the wine to gain complexity and additional nuances. This should age effortlessly for decades. Drink from 2032-2060. 98 Pts
2019 Palmer Alter Ego dePalmer – Flowers and red fruits is the name of the game here. From start to finish, the wine exudes freshness, soft, silky textures, and a wealth of earthy, fresh, tobacco-tinted, red pit fruits. 2019 Prieure-Lichine – Medium-bodied, soft, supple, and polished, the wine opens with a mix of ripe, red fruits, flowers, espresso, licorice, and a hint of cocoa. Round, ripe, polished, and fresh, the finish loads you up with its layers of sweet, fresh, polished, lively, elegant, sensuously-textured fruits. This will age quite nicely. 2019 Rauzan Segla – Silky, seductive and sensuous, the nose, with its blend of flowers, tobacco leaf, espresso bean, violets, roses, and red pit fruits is already quite showy. Medium/full-bodied, fresh, vibrant, clean, and pure, the fruit offers length, depth, and complexity. But it will need a bit of time to fully express its essence. 2019 Rauzan-Gassies – Rauzan-Gassies has been on a roll lately and 2019 continues its positive trend. Medium-bodied. soft, polished, fresh, and vibrant, the chewy, red fruits come with an intriguing, orange citrus, espresso, and spice accent on the nose and palate. 2019 Siran – Intensely floral, with a strong note of violets, black cherry, espresso, cocoa, and roses on the nose are what you initially notice. From there you move to the voluptuously textured palate with its layers of fresh, ripe, silky black fruit with a touch of spicy chocolate that hits all the right notes. They are doing everything right at Siran these days. This is a beauty from start to finish that for a wine of this quality, sells for a song. 2019 Tayac Or Norme – Medium-bodied with good intensity, dark, ripe, red fruits, peppery spice, blueberries and flowers that is all rounded out with some chocolate and espresso on the backend.
