Why plant trees in a vineyard?

Beginner
Winemaker and organic farmer Jon Bowen explains why he values trees, shrubs and other plants in and among the vines at Domaine Sainte Croix in the Languedoc wine region of Corbieres in the south of France. Jon considers these spaces to be “lungs” that help a vineyard to breath and which literally breath life back into the vineyard. Ask a Winemaker sat down with Jon Bowen on location at Domaine Sainte Croix in 2013.
