Around the World in 48 Wines, 2: Global Pinot – Burgundy and Beyond

‘Wine Therapy: Around the World’ is an Honest Grapes explorative, escapist series of online tastings which attendees can dip in and out of or come along for a full journey around the wine-producing regions of the world. Each scheduled tasting will comprise a set of three wines (sent in advance to attendees) and attendees join us live via Zoom.

For our 2nd session; ‘Global Pinot – Burgundy and Beyond’

We compared and contrasted how this elegant, perfumed, aristocratic red variety performs around the world with examples from:

Burgundy (of course) – the heartland of great Pinot, which sets the benchmark high with an exceptional Côte d’Or Bourgogne Rouge from Maison Albert Bichot – who features in the Netflix film “Uncorked”,
Australia’s Yarra Valley, courtesy of biodynamic pioneer and hipster icon Timo Mayer’s extraordinary Bloody Hill site,
Last but not least, an amazing value bestseller from California described previously on Jancis Robinson’s website as “proper Pinot Noir for under £15 a bottle… the real holy grail…”
