The theme of the tasting was “Old World Vs New Age” and it was in three parts. First, we learnt how to properly taste wine using sight, smell and taste. Then, we tasted 12 different wines and discussed their colour, legs, fruits, ageing, acidity, body, tannins and complexity documenting it in our tasting notes. The wines we tasted were paired into 2 from each of the following wine varietals: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Rosé and Champagne. Finally, we compared each old or new world wine and picked a favourite in each category.
