If we start from Longlong Road in Baguio City and head down Naguilian Road towards Calica Grapes Farm in La Union, the distance covers around 53 kilometers via Naguilian Road. And 64 km via Marcos Highway, but this also depends on the current traffic flow and road conditions.

After an hour and a half of driving, we’ve now reached La Union! A place known for its abundant vineyards and beautiful sceneries.

We made it! We arrived in the town of Bauang, where the sweet fragrance of grapes fills the air. Let’s head straight to the Grapes Farm and see what’s waiting for us.

Here at the Grapes Farm in La Union, we can see various types of sweet and delicious grapes. The vines are cared for by hardworking farmers, which is why they yield such abundant and fresh fruit harvests every year. It’s no wonder many tourists and locals flock to this place to witness the abundance of grapes.

Grape cultivation is one of the main livelihoods of farmers in this area. We’ll see their dedication and love for their work. From nurturing the plants to harvesting the nutritious fruits, their role in producing high-quality fruits is crucial.

The spread of viticulture in the Philippines began in Bauang, La Union, where the Lomboy Farm served as the primary vineyard in 1972. For over four decades, the founder and renowned “Grape King,” Avelino Lomboy, supplied fresh grapes all over the country. He also inspired other families, including the famous Gapuz Grapes Farm, to establish their vineyards.

Picking fresh red grapes is a unique experience in farm tourism in Bauang, known as the “Fruit Basket of the North.” Aside from seasonal grapes, other products like dragon fruit and guapple are available for pick and pay. This is the kind of experience offered by the plantations in Barangay Urayong.

It’s not just a grape farm; it’s also a hub for producing alcohol products such as wine and bignay wine. Through the proper process of aging, grapes are prepared to become one of La Union’s recognized products.

As we stroll through the vineyard, it’s hard not to be amazed by the beauty of nature. The serene surroundings and green landscapes create a truly relaxing feeling.

Our adventure from Baguio to Bauang and exploring this Grapes Farm has been an unforgettable experience. If you ever get the chance, make sure to visit this hidden treasure in La Union.
