One of my favourite Christmas and New Year drinks is a mulled wine, this year I’m doubling up on the spices from last year and adding a 2023 twist. The result is spicey that warms you to the toes while having a honey-spiced sweetness for a delicious drink

Ingredients
1 Litre of Red Wine
60ml Liqueur – Traditionally a brandy, but Honey Rum this year
1x Fresh orange Peel
5x Cinnamon Sticks
9x Cloves
5x Star Anise
8x Cardamom pods.
5ml Vanilla Essence
100g Sugar
Recipe
Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and give them a quick stir.
Step 2: Heat until the wine almost reaches a simmer over medium-high heat.
Step 3: Reduce heat to low. Cover completely, and let the wine simmer for a few hours.
Step 4: Strain and add fruit seasoning.
Step 5: Serve warm topped with garnishes.
