2021 De Ferrand Chateauneuf du Pape – With a strong floral characteristic, the wine quickly moves you to its core of raspberries, crushed stone, and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, sweet, soft, supple, elegant and energetic, with a sweetness and purity to the kirsch from start to finish. 2021 De La Presidente Chateauneuf du Pape – Garrigue, flowers, kirsch, and an array of spices open the wine. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, lush and fruity, with sweetness to the berries on the palate and a creamy textured, endnote to finish everything up. The wine is made from 70% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 10% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024 – 2031. 91 Pts

2021 De La Presidente Nonciature – Flowers, strawberries, and herbs open the medium-bodied wine. On the palate, you find sweet red fruits, silky, soft-textures, and a polish to the berries in the finish. The wine will be ready-to-go on release. The wine is made from 85% Grenache ,and 15% Syrah. 2021 Domaine Le Prieuré Des Papes Le Couchant – A new wine, and producer to me, here you find a fresh, strawberry, underbrush, and floral wine that is medium-bodied, fresh, sweet, pure, and refined, as well as forward, supple and ready-to-drink on release. 2021 Domaine Le Prieuré Des Papes Vieilles Vignes – Fresh, floral, sweet, and fruity, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, polished, elegant and fresh with a core of kirsch, white pepper, and raspberries. 2021 Domaine Santa Duc La Crau Ouest – Cherrie, kirsch, flowers, and peppery spices open the perfume. The palate is fresh, the fruits have lift, energy, sweetness, and a hint of orange citrus with touches of white pepper in the elegant, vibrant finish. The wine was made from 100% old vine Grenache from the La Crau lieu-dit, and was aged in terra cotta, Amphora jars. Drink from 2024-2034. 92 Pts

2021 Domaine Santa Duc Habemus Papam – Leafy, spicy, minty fresh, and peppery, the kirsch notes are sweet, creamy, vibrant and lively. Supple and soft in texture, with a spicy accent to the dark red fruits on the mid-palate, and in the finish, this is a pleasure to taste now, and will be even better with a year or two of aging. The wine was made from blending close to 64% Grenache 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, and 1% Counoise. Drink from 2024-2035. 93 Pts

2021 Domaine Santa Duc Le Pied de Baud – Spicy kirsch, pepper, herbs, and forest leave open the nose. But, here, it is the supple, creamy textures, freshness, sweetness, and purity in the red fruits on the medium-bodied palate, along with the elegant finish that steals the show. The wine was produced from moistly old vine Grenache, with Mourvedre, and Cinsault in the blend. Drink from 2024-2036. 94 Pts

2021 Domaine Santa Duc Les Saintes Vierges – Earthy red fruits, flowers, and white pepper are initially what you find in the aromatics. On the palate, the wine is elegant, refined, medium-bodied, supple, and creamy, with a peppery, kirsch, and black raspberry finish to wrap everything up neatly. The wine blends close to 90% Grenache, with 9% Mourvedre, and 1% Counoise. Drink from 2024-2035. 93 Pts

2021 Du Bois de Saint-Jean – Soft, lush, polished, fruity, fresh, and lively, there is a nice depth of flavor along with a gentle roundness to the kirsch-oriented fruits on the palate. The wine was produced from 100% Grenache. You can drink this on release. Drink from 2024-2030. 90 Pts

2021 Duseigneur Catarina – Flowers, herb, cherries and thyme for the core of the wine on the nose, and palate. The wine is medium-bodied, forward, soft, fruity, fresh, and elegant in style. It will be simply delicious to enjoy on release. The wine is made from 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2029. 90 Pts

2021 Duseigneur Matteo Pictor Pape – Flowers, garrigue, olives, and kirsch start off this medium-bodied, soft, elegant, refined, forward, easy-to-like charmer. This will be a pleasure to drink on release. The wine is made from 80% Grenache with 20% Syrah. Drink from 2024-2029. 90 Pts

2021 Elodie Jaume – Medium-bodied, floral, and fresh with a core of bright, red raspberries, and strawberries, the wine is bright, fresh ,and clean, with a crisp edge to the red fruits on the palate, and in the finish. Drink from 2024-2028. 88 Pts

2021 Familie Isabel Ferrando Colombis – With good color, the wine opens with flowery notes coupled with spice, black raspberry, smoke pepper, citrus rind and green olives. On the palate, the wine is fresh, spicy, meaty, and slightly chewy with a fruity presence on the mid-palate and a peppery edge to the dark kirsch, along with a sprig of mint that comes in at the end of the finish. This is one of the wines of the vintage. Drink from 2023-2035. 96 Pts

2021 Familie Isabelle Ferrando Châteauneuf-du-Pape – Medium-bodied, and earthy in character, with notes of flowers, dark kirsch and garrigue. The wine is forward, and fruity with an elegant character. There is a slightly chewy edge to the sweet, ripe, pure red fruits on the palate and in the finish. The wine will be easy to enjoy on release and over the next 7-10 years. Drink from 2023-2032. 94 Pts

2021 Familie Isabelle Ferrando Cuvée Spéciale Vieilles Clariettes – Mildly yellowed honey in color, this is the second vintage for the newly renamed Cuvée Spéciale Vieilles Clariettes. The wine opens with flowers, spice, orange rind, mint, and yellow citrus . The wine is fresh, subtle, spicy, and vibrant, with an array of citrus notes. and a touch of salt that comes in on the end of the finish. Half of the wine was vinified in small, wine globes while the remaining wine was aged in neutral foudres. The wine was aged in the same globes. and foudres for 18 months before bottling. Only 800 magnums were produced. The wine is made from 100% Old vine Clairettes. Drink from 2023-2035. 96 Pts

2021 Ferraton Pére & Fils Le Parvis – Light in color, and light on the palate, with its elegant, refined, fresh, kirsch, nose, palate and soft, finish, this easy-going, charmer will be at its best in its youth. Drink from 2024-2029. 89 Pts

2021 Fines Roches – Strawberries, raspberries, and red cherries dominate the wine on the nose, and palate, giving you a forward, medium-bodied, soft, fresh, fruity, easy to like, and even easier-to-drink wine. On the palate, you find a soft, elegant, fresh, sweet, early-drinking charmer with a core of sweet, red berries from start to finish. The wine blends old vine Grenache with Syrah. 2021 Fontavin Terre d’Ancetres – Roasted red fruits, spice, black cherries, and flower aromatics open the wine. Medium-bodied, soft, and fresh, with a soft, creamy, kirsch mid-palate, and finish, with a hint of cocoa on the backend, this will be easy-to-enjoy on release. The wine was produced from blending mostly old vine Grenache with Syrah, and Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2031. 92 Pts

2021 Fontavin Trilogies – Garrigue, and peppery herbs join the kirsch notes in the perfume. The palate is medium-bodied, silky, creamy, and fresh, with a nice, sweet, cherry filled finish. The wine was produced blending 80% Grenachre, 15% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2032. 92 Pts

2021 Fortia Tradition – Juicy kirsch, sweet, cherries, licorice, pepper, and underbrush notes open the wine before you get to its core of fresh, sweet, spicy, earthy, red fruits. Supple in texture, with a kick of white pepper on the backend, this is going to be nice to enjoy on release, and for at least a decade after that. The wine is produced from a blend of close to equal parts Grenache, and Mourvedre with about 10% Syrah. Drink from 2024-2031. 90 Pts

2021 Galevan Chateauneuf du Pape – Garrigue, peppery red fruits, flowers, and spice in the perfume grab your attention. The wine is soft, forward, fresh and early drinking, with a black raspberry, licorice and sweet , peppery, black cherry endnote. The wine was produced using about 90% Grenache with the rest of the blend taken up with Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2029. 90 Pts

2021 Gigognan Clos du Roi – Medium-bodied, soft, forward, and fresh, the red fruits on the palate come with a distinctive green edge to the berries in the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine is made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2028. 88 Pts

2021 Gigognan Lieu-Dit Terre Ferme – Smoky in character, the wine moves to its red berry ,and herbal on the palate, carrying that theme through to its cherry filled endnotes. The wine is made from a Grenache dominated blend along with various amounts of 13 different, AOC allowable grape varietals. Drink from 2024-2030. 90 Pts

2021 Giraud Chateauneuf du Pape – Kirsch, flowers, and strawberries are elegant, soft, fresh and pure in the perfume. Medium-bodied, with loads of soft, refined cherries on the mid-palate and in the finish, this is going to be delicious on release. The wine was made from 100% Grenache. Drink from 2024-2031. 92 Pts

2021 Grand Veneur Le Miocène – White pepper, black raspberries, and flowers work together to form the core of this medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, soft, silky, kirsch-filled wine that will be delicious to drink on release. Refined, and fresh, this lighter-styled wine hits everything just right. The wine is a blend of 70% old vine Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2030. 91 Pts

2021 Grand Veneur Les Origines – Dark red berries, peppery spices, and herbs with a hint of smoke, and spice open the nose. On the palate, the wine is lush, round, fruity, creamy, and sweet, with layers of plush, dark red fruits, and white pepper on the palate that carries through to the finish. The wine was made with a blend of 50% old vine Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, and 20% Syrah. Drink from 2024-2032. 93 Pts

2021 Grand Veneur Vieilles Vignes – As always, this is quite dark in color. The wine is deep, meaty, smoky, rich, and lush. There is a plushness, and polish to the fruits on the palate with a creamy edge to the layers of fruit in the lengthy finish. The wine blends 45% Grenache, 45% Mourvedre, and 10% Syrah. There is a lot going on here, including some oak that needs to be resolved. So give it a year or two before popping a cork and it should be even better. Drink from 2024 – 2035. 94 Pts

2021 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape – White pepper, licorice, and flowers with a blast of kirsch open the nose. The palate is filled with strawberries, black raspberries, herbs and peppery kirsch. Soft, fresh and fruity, this is already a treat. And, a few years in the bottle is going to make it even better. The wine blends 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Cinsault. Drink from 2024-2031. 91 Pts

2021 Janasse Cuvee Chaupin – Flowers, and peppery kirsch fit together like a charm in the perfume. The palate is supple, creamy, fresh, and fruity, with a sweetness to the red fruits, and white pepper to wake everything up, adding complexity and energy. The wine is made using 100% old vine Grenache. Drink from 2024-2033. 94 Pts

2021 Janasse Vieilles Vignes – One of the deeper colored wines this year, licorice, smoke, flowers, cocoa, black cherries, and mint create the perfume. The wine is lush, supple, fresh, and creamy with layers of dark red fruits, and spice that linger n the palate and in the finish. This is one of the wines of the vintage. The wine is a blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2025-2036. 95 Pts

2021 Jas de Bressy Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Fresh raspberries, and strawberries create the core of this medium bodied, elegant, soft, forward, floral wine. The finish is soft, and refined. The wine blends mostly Grenache with Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2029. 89 Pts

2021 Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Fruity in style, the wine focuses on its strawberries, and kirsch, with its peppery and tea accents. Medium-bodied, and vibrant, with a dash of spice to the red fruits, this is already delicious in your glass. The wine was made using 90% Grenache, 5% Syrah and 5% Cinsault. 2021 Jean-Pierre Boisson Domaine du Pere Caboche – Medium-bodied, forward, early-drinking, soft, fresh, herb-tinged, kirsch-oriented charmer that will be delicious to enjoy on release. I like the orange citrus accent that follows the kirsch notes in the finish. Drink from 2024-2028. 90 Pts

2021 Jean-Pierre Boisson Domaine du Pere Caboche Creation d’Emilie – Wild strawberries, cherries, and peppery notes open the perfume. The wine is soft, medium-bodied, elegant, and fruity and will be quite easy to enjoy on release with all of its soft, kirsch and raspberries on the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine is made from a majority of Grenache with Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre planted in the La Crau lieu-dit. Drink from 2024-2030. 91 Pts

2021 Jean-Pierre Boisson Domaine du Pere Caboche Vieille Vignes Elisabeth Chambellan – A touch of smoke, thyme, pepper, and red berries open the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh, vibrant, and spicy with sweetness, and white pepper to add to its kirsch, and raspberry oriented finish. The wine is made utilizing a large percentage of 88% Grenache, with Syrah, and Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2029. 90 Pts

On the palate, the wine is lush, polished, and fresh with a charming, soft, sweet, easy character with peppery accents to the red fruits in the finish. 2021 LOr de Line Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Flowers, kirsch, fennel, and olives form the core of this wine. Medium-bodied, fresh, forward, and fruity, with a rustic charm to the finish. This is already showing quite nicely. The wine was made from 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 30% Syrah, and 10% Clairette. Drink from 2024-2030. 91 Pts

2021 La Barroche Cuvee Julien Barrot – Garrigue, underbrush, flowers, and kirsch aromas open the wine. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, elegant, forward, and refined, with soft, silky tannins, and a finish loaded with sweet, black raspberries, and a peppery kirsch. 2021 La Barroche Cuvee Pure – Roses and violets, licorice, and kirsch-liqueur aromatics create the perfume. However, it is on the palate where the wine really shines. Silky, fresh, sensuous, pure, soft, and polished raspberries, cherries, and kirsch cover the mid-palate and the elegant finish, leaving you with a hint of chocolate and white pepper in the endnote that rounds everything out. On the palate, the wine is soft, creamy, and fresh, with sweetness to the fruits, and vibrant freshness, so you have lift to all the sweet kirsch in the spicy finish. Vibrant, sweet, lusciously-textured, forward, and fresh, with a gorgeous sense of purity to the fruits, and soft, ripe tannins create one of the successes of the challenging vintage. 2021 La Ferme du Mont Cotes Capelan – With one of the deepest colored hues of the vintage, the wine offers licorice, smoke, grilled meat, and dark red berry aromatics. Equally dark on the palate, with a core of tannic fruit, dark berries, crushed rocks, and spice, the wine is rich, deep, lush, and salty, with richness, as well as minerality in the finish. On the palate, the fruits are fresh, vibrant, lifted, and peppery with sweetness to the red berries from start to finish. The wine is made from blending 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, and 10% Syrah. 2021 La Nerthe Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Incense, spice, red fruits, pepper, and red fruits fill the nose, mid-palate and finish, leaving you with layers of creamy-round, sweet, ripe, red and black fruits with freshness. 2021 Lavau Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Flowers, herbs, and cherries open the cherry, and thyme themed wine. Soft, forward, earthy, round, herb-tinted red fruits are ready-to-go on release. The wine was produced using 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2029. 88 Pts

2021 Le Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition – With a nose of licorice, black pepper and red fruits, the entry level Chateauneuf du Pape from Le Clos du Caillou delivers a forward, fresh, sweet, red berry palate with freshness, verve and ripe kirsch in the finish. The wine is vinified in concreate vats and aged in neutral foudres. The wine was made using a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. The blend in 2021 was radically altered as a large portion of the vineyard was decimated by the frost. Drink from 2024-2030. 91 Pts

2021 Le Clos du Caillou La Reserve – Kirsch liqueur, licorice, flowers, Asian spice, mint, and smoked red fruits create the nose. On the palate, the wine is creamy, lush and supple. The layers of sweet, ripe, fruits deliver freshness, energy, length, depth and elegance. This is in contention for the wine of the vintage. 2021 Le Clos du Caillou Les Quartz – Peppery kirsch, black raspberries, strawberries, kirsch, cherries, and underbrush open the nose. The wine is loaded with sweet, dark, red fruits, olives, freshness, and leafy, spicy herbs that kick in on the fruit-filled palate. The wine is made using 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah. 2021 Le Clos du Caillou Les Safres – Quite floral in nature, you also find white pepper, kirsch, black raspberries and cherries. On the palate, the wine is supple, elegant, fresh, and vibrant with sweetness, and lift to the red berries with a refined, long endnote. The wine blends 95% old vine Grenache with just a bit of Mourvedre and Vaccarese planted in sandy soils. Drink from 2022-2033. 92 Pts

2021 LePlan-Vermeersch Chateauneuf-du-Pape GT-1 – Spicy, fresh, sweet, dark red berries, licorice, smoke, and coffee beans open the wine. Medium-bodied, with a cherry, and kirsch, round-textured mid-palate, and fruity finish. With some time, if the oak better integrates, it could be an even better wine. Drink from 2024-2031. 91 Pts

2021 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) – Mildly spiced herbs and cherries in the nose open this medium-bodied, forward, and fully, ready-to-drink charmer with its open, soft-textured, kirsch-filled profile. No Centenaire was produced this year. Instead, it was added to the Tradition. Drink from 2024-2030. 91 Pts
